A Eulogy Written by Joe Dorian in memory of his dog FC Suli Bin Eliya. (photo below)
Today....I dug a hole....and I dug it deep!! I dug it in in that spot...your spot...where the morning sun, and afternoon shade, would first hit the yard. It was your favorite place to lay....there amongst the lush grass with the falcon chamber at your back. So that it would be known that you were loved, I dressed you in that blue snuggie with the hood. You remember, the one that you seemed to find "beneath you" to wear. But you did it anyways...maybe it was to please Mom and Lainey...or...maybe it was because you really did like them fussing over you. Either way, you were special! I also wrapped you in the two fleece blankets that we used to wrap you in after your baths in the winter. The doggy bone one and Lainey's Disney Princess baby blanket that she gave to you. After all, you were royalty...our princess!! So that it would be known that you were an invaluable member of the team, I placed both your collars around your neck...your dog collar so that they'd know you were part of a family that loved you and your working collar so that they'd know that you were a working dog...and a field champion! Mason and Lainey both wrote you notes, which I put in an envelope and laid on top of your body. They loved you very much and you were a very important part of their childhood and lives! Bayli seems sad. She stood by my side with a lowered head as I covered your little body with earth. I believe she knows that her brace mate and best friend is gone. (She's probably also more than a little bit pissed off that you left her to deal with your daughter Jazz!! Lol) I just peeked out the window and saw her laying with her head down next to the hole where I laid you to rest. Yeah, I think she knows. The first time I saw you, you were cradled in Teddy's arms, a proud daughter of Aziz. You were 11 months old had just lost Absolute to Turq (hey, but who hadn't back then, eh?) and had become, at the time, Teddy's youngest ever to become a field champion. I remember thinking, I really like the look of that dog, all legs and nose. Who knew that 2 years later, you'd join my pack. You brought a lot of success to our little team and for the better part of 6 years, and hundreds of rabbits, it was you, me, Ms. Sinister and Bayli!! Like the others, I will miss you little girl. I'm sorry if I ever failed you in any way or spoke too harshly to you. I love you and appreciate all that you did for me. I hope that you are finally out of pain and at peace. I hope that you are surrounded by all of your pups that went before you and that you have plenty of bunnies to chase. Sleep well and rest peacefully...our little Suli bin Eliya!! I loved this little dog. I retrieved Dibby from a bad situation at 10 months old. I brought him to my home and got him healthy in January of 2015. He and I worked on rabbit for 10 weeks and he finished as a champion in 6 trials. Tons of firsts. I sold him to a hawker in Kentucky. Little dog was run over by the UPS man in their drive way a few months later in summer of 2015. This is why I insist on kenneling when you are not hunting your dog.
